The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is investigating the officer-involved shooting at Reverend James Orange Park in Oakland City.

The shooting occurred shortly after 8 p.m. in the 1300 block of Oakland Lane SW.

According to the GBI, MARTA police officers responded to the nearby MARTA station in Oakland City after a report of a robbery.

Officers say the suspect in the case, identified as 18-year-old Carnell Kelly, ran from the station and went to Rev. James Orange Park.

When confronted, the GBI reports Kelly pulled out a knife and began struggling with police officers who were trying to arrest him. At some point in the fight, one of the officers fired his gun, but did not hit anyone.

Kelly was arrested after an officer struck him with a Taser. He refused treatment on site.
