Although Inter may have lost to Milan in the last derby della Madonnina, many Italian pundits believe the Nerazzurri remain favorites for the Serie A title.

Simone Inzaghi’s Inter must defend the Serie A title they won last season, winning their 20th Scudetto with five games remaining after beating Milan on April 22.

The Rossoneri got their revenge a few months later when they defeated the Nerazzurri in September 2024, ending a six-game losing streak.

Several experts still see Inter as a top title contender this season, which could be a valuable tip for fans placing bets on fast payout sites.

However, they had better remember that the last four Serie A winners failed to defend their title the following season. After Juventus won a ninth consecutive Scudetto in 2019/20, there was significant turnover at the top of Italian football, with Inter, Milan, Napoli and then Inter again winning the title Tricolor.

– Inter remains the best team in the league despite the derby defeat. They are still favorites for the title,” said Inter and Italian legend Marco Materazzi recently.

“No one has managed to defend their title in the last few years, and that means the maligned Italian league is still the best in the world. Manchester City won the Premier League title four years in a row. PSG dominates in France, while the league title is shared between Real Madrid and Barcelona in Spain. On the other hand, in Italy we have great balance and competition. That’s why the next season is always more difficult.”

Napoli, Juventus, Milan, Roma and Atalanta are among the title contenders for the 2024–2025 season. Since the beginning of the season, Juventus coach Thiago Motta and director Cristiano Giuntoli have been trying to put pressure on the Nerazzurri and Napoli.

“It’s still early, but Inter and Napoli are the favorites. History says so,” Giuntoli said in his latest interview.

“The most experienced team always wins. Inter is like that and Napoli became like that after changing their strategy.

The Partenopei reacted sharply after starting their Serie A season with a 3-0 away defeat against Hellas Verona. Antonio Conte’s team won three matches in a row, and in the fifth week they drew with Juventus 0-0.

Milan, on the other hand, had a somewhat sluggish start but boosted their confidence with a crucial derby win which also helped Paulo Fonseca keep his job.

Roma and Atalanta have bigger problems. The Giallorossi have already replaced Daniele De Rossi with Ivan Juric, and La Dea have lost three of their first five matches. However, the season has only just started and history shows that, despite predictions, the Serie A title race will be as unpredictable as ever.
