Police are investigating a fire at a tobacco shop in Fawkner

Police are investigating another tobacco shop fire in Melbourne after a store was set on fire in a shopping area in the city’s north.

More than 30 firefighters were called to Bonwick Street in Fawkner just before 2.30am on Monday after repeated calls to triple-0.

Fire Rescue Victoria says crews arrived on scene within minutes and found the store fully engulfed in flames.

It took over half an hour to bring the flames under control.

A cigarette and lottery shop was severely damaged and adjacent shops suffered smoke damage.

No one was injured.

The fire was deemed suspicious and firefighters will remain on scene through the morning to ensure the flames are fully extinguished.

Due to the large amount of smoke coming from the fire, a public announcement was issued.

There have been more than 100 fires in Victoria linked to an illegal fight over tobacco grass between organized crime and bikie gangs.

Meanwhile, in Melbourne’s north-west, crews responded to a factory fire in Keilor Park.

The fire broke out at the Thomsons Road industrial park just before 1am.

Firefighters entered the burning building to extinguish the blaze while another team protected neighboring factories.
