Many “traffic calming” efforts on Troost have made intersections even more dangerous.

Still . . . Following this week’s tragic fatality, there are renewed calls for more signage and street repairs:

Neighbors have been pushing for a traffic light to be installed for some time because walking is popular in the area, especially among many UMKC students who live nearby.

“We hear about this often. There are car accidents here all the time and many people have had near accidents,” she explained.
