Many people died after the plane crash in OBX

KILL DEVIL HILLS, N.C. (WAVY) – A single-engine plane crashed in the Outer Banks Saturday evening, causing multiple deaths, officials said.

At approximately 5 p.m., the plane crashed in a wooded area at Wright Brothers National Memorial First Flight Airport.

According to the release, eyewitnesses reported that the plane tried to land at the airport. After the crash, the plane burst into flames. It was extinguished by the Kill Devil Hills Fire Department and local fire departments.

Many passengers were confirmed dead. FFA is closed until further notice.

The National Transportation Safety Board, an independent federal agency charged with:
U.S. civil aviation accident investigator will investigate the incident.
The Federal Aviation Administration was also notified.
