Xander Schauffele slams Tom Kim’s ‘bad sportsmanship’ claim.

Xander Schauffele says he finds it hard to believe some members of the US team swore at Tom Kim on day three of the 2024 Worlds President’s Cup.

The two-time major champion and his good friend Patrick Cantlay defeated international pair Si Woo Kim and Tom Kim in the foursomes on Saturday.

Their thrilling match resulted in a draw, with Cantlay making a huge birdie putt on the 18th Royal Montreal, putting the pressure on Si Woo Kim.

The South Korean failed to convert his birdie putt into a common point, meaning Jim Furyk’s dozen won the session 3-1.

They will lead 11-7 in Sunday’s singles match.

Tom Kim’s immediate reaction was to accuse the American side of unsportsmanlike conduct.

“I heard some players swearing at us,” he said.

“That part wasn’t really… I don’t think there was any good sportsmanship there.

“But it’s all part of the fun. I understand that.”

A reporter asked Schauffele: “Tom Kim was here recently and said he heard some of the players swearing at him and that he didn’t think there was good sportsmanship there.

“I just thought it was fair to give you a chance to respond or comment?”

Schauffele said he and Cantlay treated the Kims with the “utmost respect” during their match.
