Ocean Coast, California– A motorcyclist was killed in a multi-vehicle collision in Oceanside on Saturday afternoon, according to the Oceanside Police Department.

The crash occurred on the Coast Highway near West Street at around 1:53 p.m. on September 28.

Police said a group of up to six sportbikes were traveling northbound on the Coast Highway when one of them slowed down for the vehicles ahead to make a left turn.

Another driver did not slow down in time and hit the back of the preceding motorcyclist.

The impact ejected both riders and both ended up on the south side.

One of the motorcyclists was then struck by a southbound Toyota Yaris, and the other motorcyclist collided with another southbound vehicle.

The motorcyclist hit by the Yaris was taken to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The second victim was treated for injuries at the scene.

No other injuries were reported.

Police are investigating the incident.
