Investigators investigate fatal motorcycle crash in Bear


Bear, DE – Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal crash that killed a New Castle man. Ronald Meadowcroft, 52, died September 26 from his injuries.

The incident occurred on September 18 at approximately 9:39 p.m. Meadowcroft was driving a Harley-Davidson FXS southbound on Wrangle Hill Road, near the intersection with Porter Road. At the same time, a 27-year-old man from Bear, Germany was driving an Acura RSX northbound. When the Acura attempted to make a left turn, it entered the path of the motorcycle, causing a head-on collision.

The driver of the Acura was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and was later released. Meadowcroft also suffered serious injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital, where he remained in critical condition until his death on September 26.

Wrangle Hill Road remained closed for approximately two hours while Delaware State Police Troop 2 investigated and cleared the scene. The investigation is ongoing and authorities are seeking information from witnesses. Anyone with knowledge about the incident is asked to contact the police.

  • Utica police are investigating after an argument ended with someone being stabbed in the face with a fork

    Utica, NY – Utica Police and Fire Department units were dispatched to a home in the 1400 block of Kemble St on Thursday around 8 p.m. in reference to a stabbing investigation.

    Upon arrival, officers spoke with the victim, who reported that he had been involved in an argument with a male acquaintance. During the argument, the suspect stabbed the victim in the face with a fork.

    The victim’s injuries are not life-threatening. The suspect, 38-year-old David Bowie of Utica, was arrested without incident.

    Bowie was then taken to the Utica Police Department, where he was charged with attempted second-degree assault.

  • An attempted robbery was reported in Brooklyn

    BROOKLYN, NY — Police said a 33-year-old woman was attacked during an attempted robbery in Sunset Park earlier this month.

    The incident occurred at approximately 6:20 p.m. on Friday, September 6, 2024, in front of 644 4th Avenue. The victim was approached by an unidentified man who tried to take her purse by force. During the fight, the attacker hit the woman on the back of the head and then fled the scene on foot.

    According to authorities, the victim refused medical attention at the time of the incident.

    Police continue to investigate and no arrests have been made.

  • A shoplifting incident at a Wilmington Macy’s turns into a robbery

    Wilmington, DE – Delaware State Police are investigating a robbery that occurred after an attempted shoplifting at Macy’s Concord Mall on Tuesday afternoon.

    Officers responded to Macy’s Concord Mall at 4747 Concord Pike in Wilmington on Tuesday around 5:36 p.m. According to a preliminary investigation, an unknown black woman was caught on surveillance video attempting to leave the clothing store without paying. When a loss prevention officer tried to retrieve the items, a fight broke out.

    During the confrontation, the suspect kicked the employee, suggested he had a gun, then reached for her belt before fleeing the store. The suspect was described as a black female, approximately 150-170 cm tall, with long black braids.

    The incident is being investigated by the Delaware State Police Troop 2 Robbery Unit. Detectives are appealing for information from anyone who may have details about this case.
