Law and order has collapsed and a “jungle paradise” reigns in the national capital, AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal said on Sunday (September 29, 2024), citing shootings in the city targeting commercial establishments.

In a post on X, former Delhi Chief Minister said that Union Home Minister Amit Shah will have to take effective steps immediately as maintaining law and order in the national capital is his responsibility.

β€œLaw and order in Delhi has collapsed. It is a true Jungle Paradise. In the nation’s capital, people are afraid. Law and order in Delhi comes under Amit Shah. He will have to take effective steps immediately,” Kejriwal wrote. in Hindi.

Over the past few days, shootings have been reported from various corners of the city targeting a luxury used car dealership, a hotel and a candy store, and police suspect that these incidents are related to extortion offers made by gangs.

The law and order issue was raised in the Delhi Assembly session on Friday (September 27) by ruling AAP MLAs who alleged that traders and businessmen in the city were receiving an increased number of extortion calls from various gangs.

They also blamed the inaction of the Delhi Police, saying that people have lost trust in them and are dealing with gangs directly.

AAP MLAs also demanded the resumption of monitoring committees at the police station level to check such crimes.
