Haitian official discussing ‘cats and dogs’ remarks to UN makes wildly embarrassing move in middle of speech

Edgard Leblanc Fils, president of Haiti’s interim council, was speaking before the United Nations General Assembly on Thursday when he experienced an embarrassing moment.

Fils spoke to world leaders for the first time about the gang violence that is ravaging the country, with Port-au-Prince hosting an ongoing gang war between two opposing groups. He expressed concern about the number of people fleeing the area due to uncontrolled aggression, then pointed to recent reports of Haitian immigrants in Springfield, Ohio. Concerned that Haitians around the world might face prejudice as a result of these stories, Fils began asking questions while trying to drink water.

Instead of pouring himself a glass, Fils tried to drink directly from the jug, which ended with him dousing himself with water.
